Thanks for lowering my red blood count, MDS.

I survived my very first medical study! Aside from the isolation, crappy food, limited internet access, creepy weird people, fifteen bazillion million blood draws, nineteen million gagillion glucose tests, and all or at least most of my urine ending up in various tiny cups, it wasn't too bad. Oh, they put my first IV in incorrectly and the experimental medication started infiltrating into my arm. ROCK ON! Now I eagerly await my $3,000 bucks and hopefully don't die from late-term side effects. Cool.

Sweet shoes, man.

For those of you who read this and don't already know, I'll be spending the summer in London with none other than my bestest pal Chauncey. We will start a blog to keep everyone updated, and its coolness just might rival that of this blog's. But probably not. We plan on staying till August and will hopefully work in a hostel so we won't have to pay rent. (yes, I said a hostel. No, we won't get tortured and/or have our Achilles tendons severed. No worries.) So hurrah for seeing England again! Cheers!

Yes, it's supposed to be a turtleneck.

Joel and I put up some artwork today. A few weeks back we finger painted some pictures, so we decided to get frames for them. Joel made some vegetables in various states of emotion, which are currently hanging in the kitchen. I made a quaint little blue flower and an excited looking dinosaur which are in the bathroom. FINGER PAINTING RULES!

Then Dino gives him a noogie and runs off with his candy.

I've watched so many episodes of The Shield, I'm having difficulty differentiating it from my real life. I dream about Vic Mackey arresting me and trumping up the charges by planting pot in my car. I try to imagine what I would say to outsmart Dutch's seemingly flawless interrogation techniques.

Zarquon, help me. I am a T.V. junkie.

This just screams Doctor Who, doesn't it?

(To be sung to the tune of Happy Birthday)

Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday dear person who gave birth to me twenty-one-and-a-half years ago...
Happy Birthday to you!

Yes, this is your birthday present. I'm not the only person who suffers when I don't have money :)

The Salisbury Plains is a beautiful place to sit and think

So I've decided I'm going to spend the summer working in London. Gotta go back to England. I'm telling you, once you go there it just sucks you right back.

Even Joel being a Dinosaur doesn't make him intimidating.

My pot roast RULED! A little dry, I'll admit, but still super tasty. Also I went to a natural history museum today and saw a giant cross-section of a tree. It was alive back when Mary Queen of Scots was beheaded. I bet Mary wishes she could say the same about herself! (ba doom choo.)

Tonight they're gonna rock you tonight.

This is what the guitar sounds like: "Chuh chuh, chika chika chuh booooooow wooooow weedle wooooow woooow...chucka chuh."
And the drums sound like: "buh buh....buh da duh da duh da duh duh...buh da duh da duh da doom choo."

Thought you'd like to know.

And they make Dino squeezably soft, too.

I've vowed to make a pot roast on Saturday. And it is going to be oh so good...

It only shuts him up for a little while.

I planned on doing work today. I planned on reading books, writing essays, getting a jump start on my Grad school application...instead I spent the day studying how to format screenplays for television because I got it into my head that I wanted to write a show for the BBC. They take unsolicited submissions, you know. Why do I waste my time so? Would someone please tell me to do something I should be doing?

Settle down, or Doctor Dino will whip out his Sonic Needle-Nose Pliers.

Joel and I ran out of quarters in the middle of drying our laundry, so now our entire apartment is covered in clothes. Clothes hanging on chairs, clothes draped over kitchen cupboards, clothes in the closet (well, no shock there...), clothes hanging on a USB cord I duct taped across my open door...it's a bit of a mess. And really humid.

FRICKING ALLERGIES.

Know what I think is a funny word? Squeegee. Also pancake. And kumquat. Oh, and the Westboro Baptist Church decided to make an appearance at my University which, I must admit, I am super excited for. So excited, I might go to hell.

You get in my nose and make me sneeze.

I watched TV from 5 p.m. till 1 a.m. tonight. Yes, I had homework. Yes, I ignored it. But I had good reason! Four episodes of Doctor Who, the House season premiere, three episodes of The Venture Brothers, and of course the quintessential Daily Show and Colbert Report. It was a totally awesome television night.

Chill out on those trans fats, Dino.

Want to know something hilarious? You have to pay $140 dollars to take the GRE. "What's so funny about that, Katie?" You must be asking yourself. Well, fair reader, ask any given academic professional what the purpose of the GRE is and you'll get about the same answer from all of them: "Oh, it's not actually that important. It's just one of those things you have to do." So in other words, the GRE is the $140 dollar bridge to Graduate school which, hour by hour, costs almost twice as much as Undergraduate. WHY DON'T YOU JUST TAKE MY KIDNEY, UNL?!

SWELL! I am SO EXCITED about spending half a paycheck on a God-forsaken test that essentially means nothing except that I know how to take fill-in-the-bubble tests. Good. Thought I'd proven that in kindergarten, first through eighth grade, all of high school, and the first half of college. And what am I tested for on the GRE? Junior high math and vocabulary. No, really. I almost cannot contain my excitement.

Goddamn universities.

Buy tickets in advance, or they might all be Anti"gone" (ba doom choo)

Since it's past midnight, I'm putting up a new one. Can't talk now though, Colbert's on.

One just tastes a little more like Thanksgiving, that's all.

Happy almost 21st birthday, Joel. Better watch out, world--now that Joel and I are both legal, we're going to do exactly what we want to do: watch Everybody Loves Raymond and take a nap.

My people drawing skills aren't as awesome as my dino drawing skills.

I've been sneezing incessantly for the last few days, so if anybody wants to make a donation to the Foundation of Me, Kleenexes would be appreciated. Or money, as usual, but Kleenexes now too.

Dinosaur McQueen and Sally Rex in the Lifetime Original Movie, "I didn't know he had syphilis."

A two-fer for ya's. You're welcome.

What do Mexican Dinosaur and Joel have in common? Unsightly stubble.

I've taken a momentary vow of silence, as I have a painful canker sore in the back of my throat which is REALLY PISSING ME OFF! So...here's an old 'toon I forgot I'd made. Joel had been nagging me for about four weeks to make a Mexican dinosaur. It was this or Einsteinosaur, so I had to choose.

Put down the nut and give him a hand, you damn squirrel!

I've been reading a book all about the most likely ways I'll die and what exactly it will do to me. The purpose of the book is to dispel the myriad myths surrounding death, to perhaps to the reader's mind at ease with the knowledge of just how some of these diseases work. It has only served to make me even more paranoid than I was before and slightly worried as well, as now I know I'll probably make a number of funny noises the moment I die. Great.
